Based in Detroit, the Federal Motor Truck Company manufactured trucks of various size from 1910 to 1959. The company was founded as Bailey Motor Truck by Martin L. Pulcher, who would later found the Oakland Motor Car Company. The last Federal vehicle made for the US marketplace was made in 1959.
These vehicles were well thought of and still are by oldsters in trucking and transport who can recall Federal's heydays and the popularity of the outfit's vehicles. Like the Studebaker and the Hudson perhaps in passenger cars, the Federal was a make that "dad", "Uncle George" or "Cousin Harry" once had, especially in families with a background in trucking, transport or cartage.
