On a very hot day with triple digit temperatures this wildcat lays in the shade of some Bamboo stalks trying to stay cool. Out of Africa Wildlife Park, Camp Verde, Arizona

Serval-(Leptailurus serval) is a medium-sized African wild cat. Servals live on the savanna wetlands of Africa, their diet consists mainly of hares, ground squirrels, hyraxes, and mole rats, but will also prey on snakes, lizards, insects, fish, and birds. A serval can leap in the air up to 10 ft to catch birds in flight. They are very intelligent, and demonstrate remarkable problem-solving abilities. They can outwit their prey and elude their predators, and they are not at all foreign to playing games, kittens play with each other and with their mothers, and adult servals will often play with their capture for some time before making the final, inevitable kill.
It is unfortunate for the Serval that it has such beautiful fur. Their spotted coats are sometimes marketed as young leopards or cheetahs and can attract a hearty price on the black market.
