Description
Original Fine Art Photography by Donna Kennedy-Photographed in Yellowstone National Park...
The geothermal areas of Yellowstone include several geyser basins in Yellowstone National Park as well as other geothermal features such as hot springs, mud pots, and fumaroles. The number of thermal features in Yellowstone is estimated at 10,000. Water temperatures within some springs exceed the boiling point, temperatures can reach roughly 456 degrees Fahrenheit. The intense blue color of some springs results when sunlight passes into their deep, clear waters. The National Park Service publishes warnings, posts signs and maintains boardwalks where people can walk to get close to popular geyser fields.
