When you think of "The Flatiron" you probably think of the iconic building in New York City. But in Jerome the Flatiron Building pre-dates New York Citys Flatiron building by several years. The name Flatiron refers to an architectural design in the triangular shape of the heavy old flat irons that were once used to iron clothing. There are similar buildings across the country and Jerome is proud that this historic building still stands and functions today as a local business.
Jerome is a town in the Black Hills of Yavapai County in the State of Arizona. Founded in the late 19th century on Cleopatra Hill overlooking the Verde Valley, it is more than 5,000 ft above sea level. Jeromes history is full of stories.
