London Bridge in Lake Havasu City, Arizona.

In 1962, London Bridge was falling down. Built in 1831, the bridge couldn't handle the ever-increasing flow of traffic across the Thames River. The British government decided to put the bridge up for sale, and Robert McCulloch, Founder of Lake Havasu City, Arizona, and Chairman of McCulloch Oil Corporation, submitted the winning bid of $2,460,000.
The bridge was dismantled, and each stone was numbered. Everything was shipped 10,000 miles to Long Beach, California, and then trucked to Lake Havasu City. Reconstructing the London Bridge was done in the same manner as the Egyptians built pyramids. Sand mounds beneath each arch were carefully formed to the profile of the original bridge arches, serving the same function as molds. Having lived in the south (Florida & Mississippi) for 54 years my dream was to move out West which I did in 2008. I am in awe of this beautiful country that we call home, and photography has become a very important part of my life. Lighting and perseverance are top of the list, if it's having to hike for miles to get your shot, or waiting for hours in the freezing cold for a train, taking photos again and again of birds or wildlife to get that one beautiful capture, or being up at all hours of the night or early morning to get the full Moon or Milky Way.
