Still Life of Southern Pecans from South Carolina sent to us by my Sister-In-Law Debbie. This hurricane Katrina bowl was made from a dead Cherry tree after the 2005 hurricane devastated the Gulf Coast in Biloxi and Gulfport Mississippi.
Pecans are the state's official tree, and South Carolina is the country's leading producer of this popular nut. Pecan trees can grow up to 100 feet tall and live for hundreds of years. The nuts are harvested in the fall, and South Carolina's pecans are known for their rich flavor and large size.
