Photographed in Logan, Utah, can you find the bug?
Helianthus annuus, the common sunflower, is a large annual forb of the genus Helianthus grown as a crop for its edible oil and edible fruits. This sunflower species is also used as bird food, as livestock forage, and in some industrial applications. The sunflower is an annual plant in the family Asteraceae, with a large flower head. The stem of the flower can grow up to 3 metres tall, with a flower head that can be 30 cm wide. To grow well, sunflowers need full sun. The iconic yellow petals and fuzzy brown centers are actually individual flowers themselves. As many as 2,000 can make up the classic sunflower bloom.
The tallest sunflower on record was over 30 feet tall.
