Description
Original Fine Art Photography and digital artwork by Donna Kennedy…
Navajo Dome is a famous landmark and tourist attraction in Capitol Reef National Park in Utah, USA. The area was named for a line of white domes and cliffs of Navajo Sandstone, each of which looks somewhat like the United States Capitol building, that run from the Fremont River to Pleasant Creek on the Waterpocket Fold. The rock was formed originally from sand dunes. over time these became covered and compressed into a solid form. They have been exposed by uplift and erosion and the over laying layers removed. The lines on the sides of the dome show the patterns on the original sand dune.
