Sundance Mountain Resort is a ski resort located 13 miles northeast of Provo, Utah. Spanning over 5,000 acres on the slopes of Mount Timpanogos in Utah's Wasatch Range, alpine skiing began on the site in 1944. Actor Robert Redford acquired the area in 1969, and established a year-round resort which would later spawn the independent Sundance Film Festival and the non-profit Sundance Institute. Sundance is committed to the balance of art, nature and community, and radiates the art of untouched nature through skiing, snowboarding, hiking, biking & fly fishing.
Mount Timpanogos, often referred to as Timp, is the second-highest mountain in Utah's Wasatch Range. Timpanogos rises to an elevation of 11,752 ft above sea level in the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest.
To us Sundance is and always will be a dream. What you see, smell, taste and feel here is a dream being carefully nurtured. It is an area whose pledge is to people. What we offer in the form of art and culture, spirit and service is homegrown and available to all.~ Robert Redford
UPDATE: After more than 50 years Robert Redford sold Sundance Mountain Resort in December 2020.
