Ladybugs are needed for this cluster of Aphids on Milkweed-Photographed in Reno, Nevada...
Aphid, (family Aphididae), also called plant louse, greenfly, or ant cow, any of a group of sap-sucking, soft-bodied insects (order Homoptera) that are about the size of a pinhead. They can range in color from green, black, red, yellow, brown or gray. The best way to identify aphids is to check for two tail pipes (cornicles) found at the end of the abdomen. All aphids have cornicles, but some are smaller and less obvious. In most cases they cause little or no damage to the health of plants.
