Corn is called maize by most countries, this comes from the Spanish word 'maiz'. Cornis a cereal crop that is part of the grass family. An ear or cob of corn is actually part of the flower and an individual kernel is a seed. On average an ear of corn has 800 kernels in 16 rows and will always have an even number of rows on each cob. Corn contains certain B vitamins and vitamin C, as well as magnesium and potassium. Yellow corn is also a good source of two antioxidants, zeaxanthin and lutein, which are good for eye health
Corn can be produced in various colors including blackish, bluish-gray, purple, green, red, white and the most common yellow.

You are making my mouth water, Donna! Spectacular still life capture of this gorgeous fresh "peaches and cream" corn on the cob! I have a red gingham tablecloth just like this! Magnificent composition! L/F/T/FB
