Description
Original Fine Art Photography by Donna Kennedy-
A bowl of delicious Satsumas from Florida sent to us from my sister-in-law Debbie. She has several fruit trees and always shares the harvest..
Satsumas (Citrus reticulata) are a form of mandarins, known for loose skins, few seeds and sweet flavor. They grow much like other citrus cousins, needing temperate climates and lots of sun, though satsumas are slightly more cold hardy than others. Conversely, they are not well suited to desert climates.
Satsumas are in season between October and December, so you may start to see them at your local grocery store in the winter months. In the US, they’re grown in California and the Southeastern states.
