Captured this little wonder at Rancho San Rafael Park on an early morning in August, Reno Nevada
Cabbage White (Pieris rap) A small widespread common butterfly that is found across Europe, North Africa, Asia, and Great Britain. It has also been accidentally introduced to North America, Australia and New Zealand where it causes damage to cultivated cabbages and other mustard family crops. Cabbage Whites are one of the first butterflies to be seen in the Spring, and one of the last to be seen in the Fall. They fly from late February to mid-November.
Females have two submarginal black spots on the wings, while males have only one. They feed on flower nectar from a very wide array of plants including mustards, dandelion, red clover, asters, and mints.
