I spotted some old farm equipment high atop a hill last week, it was facing southeast, the same direction as the Milky Way. After researching the weather and when the Moon would set I went back just before midnight. During my shoot I saw several shooting stars so I had to make a wish :) A magical night indeed.
I can't tell you how amazing it is to stand under this magnificent galaxy so visible to the naked eye, something everyone should experience at least once in their lifetime. Verde Valley, Arizona...August 2016
The Milky Way is the galaxy that contains our Solar System. Its name "milky" is derived from its appearance as a dim glowing soft white band arching across the night sky.
