I spotted some old farm equipment high atop a hill last week, it was facing southeast, the same direction as the Milky Way. After researching the weather and when the Moon would set I went back just before midnight. During my shoot I saw several shooting stars so I had to make a wish :) A magical night indeed.
I can't tell you how amazing it is to stand under this magnificent galaxy so visible to the naked eye, something everyone should experience at least once in their lifetime. Verde Valley, Arizona...August 2016

Having lived in the south (Florida & Mississippi) for 54 years my dream was to move out West which I did in 2008. I am in awe of this beautiful country that we call home, and photography has become a very important part of my life. Lighting and perseverance are top of the list, if it's having to hike for miles to get your shot, or waiting for hours in the freezing cold for a train, taking hundreds of images of birds or wildlife to get that one beautiful capture, or being up at all hours of the night or early morning to get the full Moon or Milky Way.
