Texas Bluebonnet (Lupinus texensis) is a hardy winter annual native to Texas. Bluebonnet flowers are densely arranged on a spike with a characteristic ice white terminal tip. As the Texas Bluebonnet flower ages, one of the top petals turns purple-red. Blooming period of the Bluebonnet flowers is between March-May. It is the Texas state flower.
"The bluebonnet is to Texas what the shamrock is to Ireland, the cherry blossom to Japan, the lily to France, the rose to England and the tulip to Holland," wrote historian Jack Maguire.
