Description
Original Fine Art Photography by Donna Kennedy-
Photographed in the Heber Valley, Midway, Utah
The Historic Tate Barn is located within Wasatch Mountain State Park, near the Soldier Hollow area and also close to Deer Creek Reservoir. It is well worth a stop to look at this beautiful, historic building.
The barn was built in 1902 by Francis Tate, an English emigrant who had a dairy farm here. It was constructed using local Red Pine and the unique architectural form made it a bit of a Heber Valley icon.
The barn became a part of Wasatch Mountain State Park in 1961, but sadly fell into disrepair, with a final heavy snowfall bringing it to its demise in 1996. Thankfully a committee was organized to reconstruct the barn and it was completed by 2002, in time for the winter olympics that were held nearby.
