Description
Original Fine Art Photography by Donna Kennedy...
I was lucky to find this Argentine Giant Cactus last week, it had already bloomed, but I did see more buds growing, so I kept checking on their growth, and this morning around 5:30 am there were several blooms opened, waiting to be photographed :)
Camp Verde, Arizona
The Argentine Giant is a columnar cactus with each stem fast growing up to 4 inches wide, 3 feet tall, and clumping 6-7 feet wide. It has a fragrant bloom that usually opens at night and last until morning. The fragrance and yellow and white colors attract night pollinators. While it is said to be a nocturnal blooming cactus with the flowers closing at early morning. On cool, cloudy days in Arizona; the flowers continue blooming during the day.
