Original Fine Art Photography by Donna Kennedy-

This Lenticular cloud was so big I couldn't get it all in my frame! It appears as if it's blasting off with the smaller puffy clouds underneath. This to me was the most amazing sight and the most impressive cloud I have seen here so far.
Lenticular clouds (Altocumulus lenticularis) are stationary lens-shaped clouds that form at high altitudes, normally in perpendicular alignment to the wind direction. Lenticular clouds can be separated into altocumulus standing lenticularis, stratocumulus standing lenticular, and cirrocumulus standing lenticular. Due to their shape, they have been offered as an explanation for some Unidentified Flying Object (UFO) sightings.
